Message from the Superintendent

LUHSD takes our responsibility for our students’ safety very seriously. In this day and age when social media is the main mode of communication for many teens in our nation, it is crucial that schools and parents work together to monitor social media for information that may affect our students’ safety at school. Though our schools frequently monitor it, we need your help monitoring social media as well. If you see something concerning, please try to screenshot the post or copy the internet address of where it was posted and share with both your child’s school and the Lemoore Police Department or Sheriff’s Department, depending on where you live in our district. Reposting a threat makes it take much longer to get to the source when time is of the essence.

In the event that something is reported to us that causes us to lockdown a school site, please check your phone and email regularly for official school alerts and rely on information from your child’s school or local law enforcement. We are committed to providing you with accurate and timely information and instructions. Please keep in mind, however, that at times there may be an active investigation that may limit the information that we as a school can share. In a lockdown, it is also crucial that your child silence their cellphone for their safety and the safety of others, so please do not call them or the school during that time. Office staff will be unavailable to take phone calls as everyone is doing their best to investigate the situation and keep everyone safe.

You can further assist us by making sure that your child’s emergency contact information is accurate and current so that you will receive our messages. If we are required to evacuate, only parents/guardians and those listed as emergency contacts will be allowed to pick up your child. In the instance of a lockdown, please do not come to campus as it will only complicate matters from a safety and security standpoint.

The best action parents can take in an emergency is to stay close to their phone and email for updates.

We appreciate your assistance in keeping the lines of communication open so that our students, your children, remain safe at school.
